King Proud: Supporting the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs in King
What does it mean to be King Proud? It means taking pride in our community — and, just as importantly, investing in its future.
The King Chamber of Commerce (KCC) is proud to support King Proud, a community-focused initiative that celebrates the people, businesses and organizations that make King Township such a special place to live and work. One of the ways King Proud gives back to our community is through the Morning Youth Grant (MYG), which supports young entrepreneurs in King Township.
At the heart of this initiative is Brent Morning, whose vision and continued dedication to giving back to the King community are helping make the Morning Youth Grant possible. Last night, Brent presented the King Chamber of Commerce with a $7,500 cheque in support of the Morning Youth Grant, helping us continue our work of supporting young people as they pursue their entrepreneurial goals.
We are incredibly grateful to Brent for his generosity, vision and ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for the next generation of entrepreneurs in King Township.
A Legacy of Giving Back
The Morning Youth Grant was established by Brent Morning in honour of his late father, James Morning, a longtime King Township community leader and entrepreneur.
James served on King Township Council for 20 years and built his business, James Morning & Sons Ltd., from modest beginnings in 1969 into a successful local enterprise. Throughout his life, he demonstrated a strong commitment to entrepreneurship, community and giving back.
The Morning Youth Grant carries that spirit forward by providing financial support and encouragement to young entrepreneurs in King Township.
In 2026, eight young entrepreneurs each received $500 to put toward their business endeavours.
While the financial contribution is meaningful, the purpose of the program goes beyond the cheque. It is about letting young people know that their ideas, ambition and entrepreneurial efforts are valued — and that their community is behind them.
How King Proud Helps
The Morning Youth Grant is part of the broader King Proud initiative, which celebrates community pride while creating opportunities to give back.
King Proud merchandise is one way the initiative supports the grant, while community members can also make contributions. Every purchase and contribution helps strengthen our ability to support young entrepreneurs in King Township.
Another important source of support is the King Proud Charity Golf Challenge, organized independently by Brent Morning.
The annual tournament brings together golfers, sponsors, volunteers and community supporters to raise funds for several local and charitable causes. In 2026, $22,500 was shared among five deserving organizations: Easter Seals Ontario, the King City Lions Club, the Nobleton Lions Club, the Schomberg Lions Club, and the King Chamber of Commerce’s Morning Youth Grant.

The golf tournament is not a King Chamber event, but we are incredibly grateful to be one of its beneficiaries and to receive support that helps make the Morning Youth Grant possible.
Supporting King’s Future
For the King Chamber of Commerce, supporting young entrepreneurs is about more than providing financial assistance. It is about building a stronger business community by encouraging the next generation to dream, create and take their first steps into entrepreneurship.
We are grateful to Brent Morning for his vision, generosity and ongoing commitment to King Township. His efforts — together with the support of the golfers, sponsors, volunteers, donors and community members who make the King Proud initiatives possible — are helping create opportunities for young people right here in our community.
