The King Chamber of Commerce Governance and Advocacy Committee (KCCGAC), along with the Concerned Citizens of King Township (CCKT), have been hard at work over the last couple of months preparing for the All Candidates Event for the King Community. The event is set to take place on Thursday October 8th from 5:30-9:00pm at The Country Day School, Performing Arts Centre located at 13415 Dufferin St.  Their job is to host the gathering, which is the central stage where both the Mayoral and Councilor candidates will discuss various topics pertaining to King City.

The candidates will be asked questions on the topics of planning, taxes, business, the local economy, employment, the environment, and development. The event is an important one, given the winning candidate of the Mayoral election will play a large part in developing the King City Municipal Official Plan, thanks to the Ford government’s Strong Mayor laws.  In addition, King City faces enormous growth as the population is expected to grow by twenty-one thousand people by the year 2051.  The city is unique in that each Ward possesses distinctive characteristics, ranging from dense urbanized areas to rural farming communities.  What’s more, is that the Greenbelt and urban and rural ecosystems are integrated into the city, which needs to be protected, while the economy needs to continually be bolstered.  Hence, these are real topics that impact the future of King City, and that future will be explored more deeply as the candidates discuss their own perspectives on what needs to happen within King City Council.

Make sure to take time to vote on October 26th – the future of King depends on it.
